Early this month Apple finally release the final version of their flagship browser, the Safari 4. In my review of the Safari beta version, there are several things that in my opinion was left out from what should have been the identity of Safari; the missing gradient progress bar, and the location of Tab bar. not long after I wrote the review, found some tips on the internet how to bring back the blue progress bar.
With the final version of Safari 4, it seems that Apple have listened to the opinion of the user, and return to the “classic” Safari looks. Or so it seems.
The Tab Bar

They have returned the position of the tab bar to below the address bar, and make it look a bit better than previous version.
The Progress Bar

On the other hand, the progress bar sport a new look, or maybe it should be call an “indicator” bar. Now in Safari 4 final, when loading a new address, instead of a growing gradient bar we will see a grey metallic bar with the word “Loading” appears. This wouldn’t be a problem in places where the internet is fast, but in many parts of the world, watching a progress bar it’s needed as indication on how far the intended page has load. As we (kinda) know how long the page is going to load, we can decide if we want to do something else while waiting (such as making coffee, take a shower, or have a walk around the house).
Just a bit note on Safari 4 previous to 4.1, it has the stability issue, more so than the beta. Glad Apple took note of this and delivered an update.
Apple Safari takes more resources compared to Opera and Firefox. sometimes it also freezes so i would still stick to Opera.
IMHO resources wise, Camino still beats any major browser on the Mac, if only it has a bit more features it would be perfect.
